Benefits of ZOOM Teeth Whitening

Fast Results

Unlike teeth whitening at home, your dentist will be able to give you a noticeably whiter smile in under an hour. Like the name suggests, Zoom teeth whitening is a quick procedure that’s easy to slip into a busy schedule. We recommend scheduling a consultation with your dentist to determine ifZoom whiteningis right for your smile.

Depending on the extent of tooth discoloration, your dentist may recommendporcelain veneers or othercosmetic dentistry options. For example, professional teeth whitening may not be the best choice for discoloration caused by dental fluorosis (mottled teeth caused by excessive fluoride intake).Dental veneers, however, would cover the fronts of your teeth so you smile and talk with confidence.

For slight tooth discoloration, your dentist will paint a whitening varnish on the surface of your teeth. Next, your dentist will apply a quick-drying sealant. Once 30 minutes have passed, your dentist will wipe away the varnish to reveal noticeably whiter teeth.

If you have severe tooth discoloration, your dentist will break up your appointment into 3 sessions, each lasting 15 minutes. After applying whitening gel to your teeth, your dentist will shine a special lamp to accelerate teeth bleaching. The light breaks down the hydrogen peroxide in the gel to lift tooth stains and whiten teeth.

To help you pass the time during your appointment, we recommend bringing your phone or other device that lets you listen to music. Once the procedure is over, we’ll give you a special care package so you can relieve pain and maintain your white smile from home.

Can Whiten Teeth at Home

Depending on the extent of tooth discoloration, your dentist may be able to give you supplies so you can tryteeth whitening at home. If this is the case, your dentist will take impression of your teeth to create a custom whitening tray. Whitening teeth at home means you’ll be able to whiten your teeth when it’s most convenient for you.

Perfect for Sensitive Teeth

Just because you have sensitive teeth, doesn’t mean you can’t tryteeth whitening. The whitening gel and varnish we use is specially formulated as to not irritate teeth and gums. While some of our patients experience “zingers” or brief flashes of pain during treatment, many are willing to experience temporary discomfort if it means having whiter teeth. Also keep in mind that different people have different pain tolerances. One person’s negative experience doesn’t necessarily predict how you’ll react to Zoom whitening.

If you wish to stop treatment at any time, let your dentist and their team know. If you have sensitive teeth, we are willing to work at a pace that’s comfortable to you. That way, you can feel in control of your treatment.

Our dentists offer Zoom whiteningand other cosmetic dentistry services so you can smile with confidence. To schedule your appointment with one of our Westland teeth whitening dentists, call the Parkside Dental Team at (734) 261-6060.

Am I a Candidate For Invisalign Braces Westland, MI

Have you ever felt self-conscious of your front teeth? If so, our Invisalign dentists may recommend clear aligners to correct teeth alignment and minor bite issues. Your smile says a lot about your personality, which is why we provide Invisalign braces to help you achieve the smile you’ve always wanted.

Benefits of Invisalign Braces

Motivated to Straighten Teeth

You don’t have to be a child or teenager to be a candidate for orthodontic treatment. In fact, our dentist orthodontists recommend Invisalign clear aligners for teenagers and adults. Often, older patients are more motivated to straighten teeth because they know what it’s like to feel embarrassed of their smile.

For Invisalign to work, you must wear your aligners 20 to 22 hours a day. This means that you should only take out your clear aligners to eat and brush your teeth. If you don’t consistently wear your Invisalign braces, you could end up prolonging your treatment time and spending more money in the long run.

Would Follow Instructions from Dentist

Since adults are the ones paying for their own treatment, they’re often highly motivated to wear their aligners as instructed by their dentist. We’ll also give you other instructions so you can care for your teeth aligners between appointments. For example, you’ll need to brush your teeth after meals to avoid staining your clear aligners.

Would Feel Self-Conscious of Metal Braces

Wish you could straighten teeth without braces? Like the name suggests, Invisalign are nearly invisible aligners that move your teeth little by little into a straighter smile. Many of our patients appreciate that Invisalign is subtle enough to go unnoticed by friends, family, and coworkers. While Invisalign is noticeable up close, most people won’t even realize you’re in the middle of orthodontic treatment.

Wants to Improve Oral Health

Teeth straightening doesn’t just improve the appearance of your smile, it also reduces your risk for cavities and gum disease. People who have crooked teeth have more difficulty brushing and flossing, which leads to oral health issues.

If you’re prone to cavities because of crowded teeth, schedule a consultation with one of our Invisalign dentists as soon as possible. They’ll be able to determine whether you’re a candidate for clear aligner treatment.

Doesn’t Have Major Bite Issues

Invisalign is able to correct minor bite issues, like a slight overbite. However, if you need to move your jaw forward or back, we may refer to you an orthodontist for metal braces instead. An orthodontist will able to combine other types of treatment with traditional teeth braces (like headgear) to move your jaw into optimal alignment.

Issues with your bite can lead to other oral health problems, such as TMJ disorder, jaw pain, or uneven wearing of your teeth. Fortunately, we offer a range of orthodontia services to care for your smile.

Our dentists provide Invisalign braces and other orthodontia services to help you achieve your best smile. To schedule a consultation with one of our Westland Invisalign dentists, call the Parkside Dental Team at (734) 261-6060.

What is Cosmetic Dentistry Westland, MI

The goal of cosmetic dentistry is to improve the appearance of your smile. If you’ve ever felt self-conscious about your smile, it’s time to schedule an appointment with one of our dentists. Our dentists will be able to help you explore your options for cosmetic dentistry so you can start smiling with confidence. Continue reading to learn about some of the dental services we offer patients.

Benefits of Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry can help you:

  • Smile with confidence
  • Close slight gaps between teeth
  • Whiten teeth by several shades
  • Fix minor imperfections in front teeth
  • Help improve oral health

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a prosthetic tooth tooth (typically made of titanium) used to support a crown. If you have one or more missing teeth, your dentist may recommend dental implants to restore your smile. Unlike other tooth replacement options, dental implants offer more stability while you eat and talk because they’re fused to your jawbone. Many of our patients appreciate that dental implants look and feel like natural teeth.

Crown Lengthening

Do you have a gummy smile? If so, your dentist can remove excess gum tissue covering up your front teeth in a procedure called crown lengthening. We’ll also sculpt the gum line so it looks more symmetrical. Cosmetic dentistry is as much an art as it is a science. We use crown lengthening to expose more of your upper teeth for a beautiful smile.

Teeth Bonding

Teeth bonding is a simple smile makeover we can do in one appointment. We may recommend dental bonding if you feel self-conscious of slight chips, cracks, and stains on your front teeth. During the procedure, we apply a tooth-colored resin that matches the color of your natural enamel. The resin is then hardened to the surface of your tooth so you can start smiling with confidence.

Porcelain Veneers

You may be a candidate for dental veneers if you’d like to cover slight cosmetic damage to front teeth. A veneer is a wafer-thin porcelain shell your dentist is able to bond to the front of your tooth to cover slight chips, cracks, and discoloration.

To prepare your teeth for the veneers procedure, your dentist will need to remove a small amount of enamel from the fronts of your teeth. Otherwise, the porcelain veneers will make your teeth seem large and bulky.

Teeth Whitening

We provide options for teeth whitening at home and in our office. If you choose to whiten teeth at home, your teeth whitening dentist can create a tray custom-fit to the contours of your smile. We would also give you a bleaching gel to use that’s stronger than what you’d be able to find over the counter. If you would prefer to whiten teeth by several shades in one appointment, schedule a time for Zoom teeth whitening in our office.

Our dentists provide services for cosmetic dentistry so you can start smiling with confidence. To schedule your appointment with one of our Westland dentists, call the Parkside Dental Team at (734) 261-6060.

Avoid Staining Foods and Drinks

If you want to keep a naturally white smile, you’ll want to limit certain foods and drinks. Coffee is one of the biggest culprits behind tooth discoloration. While we understand that coffee provides that much-needed boost of energy as you’re trying to get out the door, it can also stain teeth over time. Even if you don’t stop drinking coffee completely, you might want to cut down on how much you drink each day. Other foods that stain teeth include wine, tea, tomato sauce, and berries.

Brush and Floss Daily

Plaque is an invisible film of bacteria that lives on your teeth. Over time, plaque buildup can increase your risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Hardened plaque (tartar) can also give your teeth a yellow or brown-colored tinge. One of the best ways to protect your white smile is to brush twice a day and floss once daily.

Most dentists agree that you’ll need to brush your teeth for at least 2 minutes at a time. If we still find plenty of plaque and tartar on your teeth, we may recommend adding a fluoride mouthwash to your oral hygiene routine.

Schedule Your Teeth Cleaning

Brushing and flossing your teeth at home isn’t enough to fully protect oral health. You’ll also need to make sure you schedule a teeth cleaning with our office to remove plaque and tartar from teeth. Only a dental professional will be able to remove tartar from teeth. If you have a lot of tartar buildup, your smile will look slightly whiter after your appointment. Your dental hygienist will use a tool called a scaler to gently scrape plaque and tartar from teeth.

Get Professional Teeth Whitening

Interested in teeth whitening at home? Your dentist may recommend custom teeth whitening trays to help you achieve a whiter smile. First, we’ll need to take impressions of your teeth to send to the lab. When you come back for your second appointment, your teeth whitening tray will be ready. Your teeth whitening dentist may slightly adjust the fit of your tray so it fits comfortably. We also offer Zoom teeth whitening done in our office.

Ask about Dental Crowns and Veneers

Each smile is different. If you only need to improve the shade of one tooth, your dentist may recommend dental crowns or porcelain veneers. A dental crown covers the entire visible portion of your tooth above the gum line and can be placed in two appointments. However, your dentist may recommend porcelain veneers to save as much natural tooth structure as possible. Veneers are wafer-thin porcelain shells we bond to the fronts of your teeth that show when you smile or talk.

Our dentists will help you explore your options to determine the best way to whiten teeth. To schedule your appointment with one of our Westland teeth whitening dentists, call the Parkside Dental Team at (734) 261-6060.
