Frequently Asked Questions

At Parkside Dental Team, we take great care to ensure our patients’ comfort at all times. The porcelain veneers process should not be painful, and we’ll apply local anesthetic to eliminate any discomfort you may feel. However, if you feel anxious about treatment, we’ll be happy to help you explore your sedation dentistry options.

Most of our patients are excellent candidates for porcelain veneers. If you suffer from bruxism (tooth grinding) or significant tooth decay, we may need to provide you with additional treatment before beginning the porcelain veneers process.

One of our patients’ favorite things about porcelain veneers is that they can care for them just like they would their natural teeth. Brushing twice a day and flossing once a day should be all that’s necessary to keep your veneers strong and beautiful.

With proper care, your porcelain veneers should last for up to 15 years. Over time, the porcelain may begin to wear down, impacting the appearance and integrity of your veneers and making replacement a priority. Other than normal wear and tear, the most common issues that cause damage to porcelain veneers are biting hard foods (like popcorn kernels) and tooth grinding.
